ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

 

    The Department of Zoology was established in the year 1957 with an aim to provide education to the young women of the district at the university level and render them capable of giving greater help to their family, neighborhood and the society at large. The Department has rendered committed service to help the students understand the formation and functioning of living organisms, impart scientific knowledge about the various technologies in life sciences and to create awareness to conserve the environment. The Department offers UG, PG, M.Phil., and Ph.D. Programmes in Zoology. The Department celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in the year 2017. The Zoology Department has excellent teaching facilities including two well-equipped laboratories, remarkable museum, research room and modern educational aids. Endowment Lectures, Conferences, Seminars, Association activities, Wildlife week celebrations, BioexCELLence-Intercollegiate competitions, Science Expo - Science Exhibition, Field visits, Laboratory/Industrial Visits are integral part of the departmental activities, ensuring a holistic education to the students. The students are encouraged to participate in seminars, competitions and club activities organized on and off campus to enrich their knowledge.

FACULTY PROFILE

Dr. Arockiamary J.S. currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of PG and Research Department of Zoology, Auxilium College, Gandhi Nagar, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She has 23 years of teaching experience. She completed her UG, PG and Ph.D. from University of Madras.

 
 

Dr. Mary Agnes A, currently serves as an Associate Professor and Head i/c PG Zoology, IQAC Coordinator, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore. She has 23 years of teaching experience. Her research interests include Arachnology, Nanobiology, Medicinal plants and physiology.

 
 

Dr. N. Uma Chandra Meera Lakshmi, currently serves as  an Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of Zoology, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She has 15 years of teaching experience. She completed her UG at Auxilium College, Vellore and PG from Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai. She obtained her Ph.D., in the year 2008 from Ethiraj College for Women, affiliated to the University of Madras.

 
 

Ms. Anuradha M., currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of Zoology, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She has 04 years of teaching experience. She completed her B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., Zoology at Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore. She is pursuing her Ph.D in Hematologic Malignancy at Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore. She was a Class Topper in Master of Philosophy, Gold Medalist in Master of Zoology, University 4th in Bachelor of Zoology at Auxilium College (Autonomous) Vellore. She has cleared State Eligibility Test for Lectureship. She has published papers in reputed journals. She is a Lead Auditor associated with NSF, Coimbatore for Environment Audits, Green Audits, Solid Waste Management, Health and Hygiene.

 
 

Dr.Hannah Elizabeth S., currently serves as an Assistant Professor at in the PG and Research Department of Zoology, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She has 9 yrs & 4 months of teaching experience. She completed her B.Sc Zoology at Auxilium College, Vellore and acquired M.Sc. and M.Phil. at Madras Christian College, Chennai. She obtained her Ph.D from Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. Her field of Research is Biodegradation and Phytoremediation. She has presented papers in International and National Conferences.

 
 

Dr. Vidhya K serves as Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore. She has completed her B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Ed.,. She was awarded with Ph.D., in Zoology at Thiruvalluvar University, Serkadu, Vellore.She has 11 years of experience as a Principal in School and 8 years at College. Her research interest includesstudies on Biodiversity, Bioremediation, Phytoremediation and Microbiology.She has published papers in international journals and conferences. She is a Lead Auditor associated with NSF, Coimbatore for Environment Audits, Green Audits, Solid Waste Management, Health and Hygiene and Subject Expert in National Children Science Congress, TNSF.

 
 

Dr. A. Rajalakshmi, currently serves as Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of Zoology, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She has 9 years of teaching experience. She completed her UG at AAA College, Walajapet and PG from the University of Madras, Guindy Campus, Chennai. She obtained her Ph.D., in the year 2015 from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Thirunevelli.

 
 

Dr. Anu K. presently working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Zoology, Auxilium College, Vellore. She has 5 years of teaching experience. She completed her Under graduation, Post graduation and Master of Philosophy at Auxilium College. She pursued her Ph.D., in the year 2019 from Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. Her research area includes Nanotechnology, Cell and Molecular Biology focusing anti-cancerous studies. She has published papers in reputed journals.

 
 

Dr. Kavitha R., currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of Zoology, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She has 5 years of teaching experience. She completed her B.Sc., and M.Sc., at the University of Madras, Chennai. She obtained her Ph.D., in the year 2016 from the University of Madras, Chennai. She has published papers in reputed journals.

  • State Level Intercollegiate Competition “BioexCELLence-3” was organized in collaboration with Nature Science Foundation Coimbatore to celebrate Nature and to provide a platform for the students to express their talents and hidden potentials.
