ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

 

    Department of Computer Application was started in the year 2001. Additional sections of Computer Applications were introduced in the year 2009 and 2023. Master's degree program in Computer Science was started in the year 2000. The BCA programme is a three year programme which offers Python, Cloud Computing, .Net programming, Computer Graphics, Mobile Computing, Mobile Application Development, and various other recent subjects. The Department also offers various NME and SBE courses for other department students. The M.Sc. degree programme is a two-year programme started in the year 2000 and includes various subjects such as Data Mining, Digital Image Processing, IOT, Neural Networks, Advanced Computer Networks, Big data and Cyber Security. Guest lectures, case study presentations, business presentations and other related programs are organized to provide insights into the latest developments and trends in the industry. Students are offered a plethora of opportunities to acquire and improve key competencies in Computer Science, which further encourages them to pursue careers in the highly competitive IT sector along, with equal emphasis on human values and professional ethics. The curriculum of the department is regularly updated in order to adapt effectively to the changing needs and times. In order to bridge the gap between classroom teaching and the industry requirements, the Department organizes expert talks and seminars on current topics through Forum for Information Technology. It is an excellent platform for students to develop new ideas along with innovative and out-of-the-box thinking. The students have brought laurels to the Department by winning various competitions and events held across the country.

FACULTY PROFILE

Dr. S. Lavanya is currently working as Head and Asst Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications (Shift II), Auxilium College, Vellore. She has 19 years of experience in this institution. She has completed her B.Sc., and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from Auxilium College. She obtained her M.Phil. degree in Computer Science from Mother Theresa University, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India in     2005 and Ph.D from Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya in the year 2019. She is qualified for SET in the year 2017. She is recognized as a Supervisor to guide students for M.Phil. Programme in Computer Science for both Full-Time and Part-Time students from 2009. She has guided 24 M.Phil. Research Scholars and 32 M.Sc. students. Areas on interest include Internet of Things, Sensor Networks, Data Mining, Wireless Communications and Networks.

 
 

Dr. S. Kavitha working as Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Applications in Auxilium College (Autonomous), vellore-6. From 2004 to till date. She has 20 years of teaching experience. She completed her B.Sc Computer Science at D.K.M College , Vellore affiliated to Madras University and acquired M.C.A. from Nehru Memorial College , Puthanampatti, Bharathidasan University, Trichy. She obtained her M.Phil., Compter Science at Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal and Ph.D in the year 2022 from Periyar University, Salem. Her research interest includes Data Mining, Programming Languages, Interent of Things and Machine Learning. She has Published Patent, Papers in international journal and conferences.

 
 

Dr.Shanthi AL. currently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore. She has 19 years of teaching experience. She completed her M.Sc. Computer Science from P.S.G College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore in 2002, M.Phil. Computer Science in 2008 from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya, Tamil Nadu in 2022. She has published papers in national and international journals and presented papers in seminars and conferences. Ms. Sivaranjini N. currently serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science & Applications, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore. She has 8 years of teaching experience. She completed her B.C.A. at Thiruvalluvar University and acquired M.C.A. from Anna. University. She obtained her M.Phil from Thiruvalluvar University . Her area of interests includes Data Mining, Machine Learning and Knowledge Engineering. She has published papers in international journals and conferences.

 
 

Ms. Susai Mary Susila A. currently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore. She has 4 years teaching experience in Sacred Heart College. And 6 years of teaching experience in Auxilium College. She completed her B.C.A and M.C.A in Don Bosco College, Yellagiri Hills and acquired M.Phil. (Computer Science) in K.M.G Arts and Science College, Gudiyatham. Ms. Kokila A. currently working as Assistant Professor, Departent of Computer Applications, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Gandhi Nagar, Vellore. She has 4 years of teaching experience. She currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Chikkanna Government Arts College, Tiruppur. She completed her B.C.A in Auxilium College (Autonomous). She completed her M.C.A in Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal and acquired M.Phil. (Computer Science) in Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore. Her research interests include Networks Security, Data Mining, Cloud computing, Internet of Things, Machine Learning and Python. She has published one paper in international journal.

 
 

Dr.S.Tharani Currently serves as Assistant Professor at Department of Computer Applications, Auxilium College (Autonomous),Vellore. Total experience of 5 Years Served at D.K.M Women’s College, Vellore and Global Arts and Science College,Veppur. She has been awarded Ph.D. (Computer Science)-Full Time in the year of 2019 from Thiruvalluvar University.
