History Association

The History Association was inaugurated on 18th August 2015. The programme started with ‘Guess Me’ programme in which the personalities of Megasthenes, Alexander the Great and Chatrapathi Shivaji were enacted by our students to highlight their importance as well as their contribution to History. The Chief Guest of this day was Dr.Navin Philip Devakumar M.A, M.Phil, Ph.D, Asst.Prof Voorhees College, Vellore. During his Guest Address to the students he highlighted the value of History and its contribution to the Nation building.

Commemoration of Vellore Sepoy Mutiny: (10th July 2015)

To celebrate 209th commemoration of Vellore Sepoy Mutiny the students of the Department of History took a rally to give awareness and to instill the spirit of Patriotism and Nationalism. They carried the postures, pluck cards and paintings depicting the scenes from Vellore Sepoy Mutiny

The Chief Guest of this day was Dr.Navin Philip Devakumar M.A, M.Phil, Ph.D, Asst.Prof Voorhees College, Vellore. During his Guest Address to the students he highlighted the value of History and its contribution to the Nation building.

Independence Day Celebration: (15th August 2015)

Independence Day celebration was organized by the Department of History, having Rev.Sr. Lusy Rose as our Chief Guest. She hoisted the National Flag and spoke to the students to realize the dream of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in their life. Students from the Department of History gave a speech on the ‘Glory of India after Independence’ and ‘the struggle of National Leaders for the Independence ‘and performed a colorful patriotic Dance.

Exhibition on Historical Monuments: (10th September 2015)

To impart the knowledge of History and to instill the value of Historical monuments the students of History were divided into groups and they were asked to prepare different project on the Historical Monuments and they exhibited for the college students. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Lt.Dr.A.Amirthavalli M.A, M.Phil, NET, Ph.D, Head and Asst.Prof., Department of History, D.K.M. College Vellore-6. She imparted to the students the care be taken to preserve and maintain the Historical Monuments. She appreciated the team work of the students and their enthusiastic participation. This event became an Inter Collegiate Program. The students from various colleges had a joy of visiting our exhibition.

Pope Francis Human Rights Cash Award Contest (10.12.2015)

The Department of History and Sociology conducted an Essay writing competition to commemorate World Human Rights Day on 10th December for the newly instituted Pope Francis Human Rights Cash award and Rolling Trophy on college day. The students participated and wrote an essay on the topic “Role of Students in Protecting and Promoting Human Rights”
