AICUF Unit Adviser
Throughout the academic year twice or thrice every week formative meetings are conducted by Sr. Regina Mary, the Unit Adviser of Auxilium College. Sr.Regina animated the students and discussed about the various issues and problems of the society. Group discussion among AICUF students for improvement of the unit was also animated. Students are encouraged to express their opinions and voice out their suggestions . The planning of the outreachprogrammes were also discussed.
In each meeting different techniques were suggested to improve their academic performance and for their personality development. The Catholic Students were also met as a group in which Sr. Regina Mary conveys the message of Pope, life of Don Bosco, Mother Mazzarello and other saints to deepen their faith, to lead a faith filled life. The meetings are concluded with a meaningful prayer.
Street Play Training
From 17th to 19th of June 2016, 40 AICUF Students of Auxilium College underwent a beautiful and meaningful street play training. The main objective of the training was to revive the rich old culture of Tamil Nadu among the students. The trainings were given by Dr. Parthiba Raja, Professo,r Dept. of Tamil –Sacred Heart College and his research scholars. Students were taught to play the instrument parai. Street play training was offered to create awareness about child marriage, child labour, abuse of women and Girl child education among the public in an effective manner.
National and State Camps
The AICUF students took part in both National and State level Camps held in Chennai, Trichy and Jawadhi hills on Team building, Leadership Training Programme, Alternative Theater Performance Training Programme and Preparation for the reception of the Sacraments in Michel Puram, Thiurvannamalai.
NAAC Peer Team Visit
On August 30, 2016 – the NAAC Peer Team visited the Sri Lankan Refugee Camp at Abdulapuram. They appreciated the unit Adivser Dr. (Sr.) Regina Mary and AICUF students for the humanitarian service for the refugees especially for coaching the children, awareness programme on the Importance of Education, Impact of Media, Anti Alcoholism campaign.
Human Rights Day
December 10, 2016 – Human Rights day – The UNO theme on Violence against Women and Girl children was depicted through a street play during Liturgical Service, College assembly. The street play was also enacted at AuxiliumB.Ed College, Don Bosco Tamil Medium and Matriculation Hr. Sec. Schools. Interaction with the school boys enabled AICUF students to appreciate the gift of life and gender equality.
December 19, 2016 AICUFers had the joy of celebrating Christmas with the children of Sri Lankan Refugee Camp at Abdulapuram. The Birth of Christ was enacted, Students sang carols and nativity passage from the Bible was narrated through a play. Sr. Regina Mary delivered the Christmas message in which she told that Christ is born to love everyone on earth. The Programme was concludedwith Santa Claus’ visit and the children enjoyed very much. People of the camp appreciated our students for the performance. Sr. Regina Mary distributed snacks and note books to the school going refugee children. It was really a joyful and meaningful Christmas celebration for all of us.
March 8, 2017 – Women’s day – the theme on “Be Bold for a Change”. A street play was enacted at St. Josheph’s ITI, Katpadi. Interaction with the ITI and DonBosco school boys enabled the AICUF students toface the reality in their relationship with the boys, to dress up modestly and to respect and appreciate the gift of life and gender equality in all spheres.
The boys gave their feedback saying that they would behave well with the girls, took an oath to give due respect to girls and work for the equal rights and also to protect the environment. They did appreciate that the girls excel amazingly in all their careers.
Candle light Peace March
On 10th April 2017 at 8.15 pm a Silent Candle Light Peace March was animated by Dr. (Sr.) Regina Mary and Dr. (Sr.) Jayaceli on behalf of AICUF and women cell. The main theme was to inculcate peace and harmony through our prayer among the ISIS terrorist who continue to persecute the Christians in Syria, Iraq and Palestine.
With the lit candles, we offered our intense prayer that the peace we experienced in our hearts may be radiated in the hearts of the victims of war stricken Middle East countries. It was an inspiring, meaningful and empathising experience for College Hostellers.About 1000 Hostellers together with the sisters of the college took part whole heartedly in this silence peace march. Everyday we continue to pray for all the victims who were persecuted for their faith in our morning prayer.
