The students of History Department commemorated the event of Vellore Mutiny on 10th July at 8.30 a.m in the Assembly. The student’s team was led by Sr. Sumathi Head, Department of History. The programme started with the patriotic light music. After the opening announcement of Ms. K.A.Kavitha, Asst. Prof about the special day of July 10th, Ms. Iniya from Second year gave charismatic talk about the trade system of companies and the British rulers. In the continuation of introduction talk, Ms. Rajalakshmi and Ms. Dhivya of second year described the causes of Vellore Mutiny and the important events of 9th and 10th July 1806 confidential movement and attack of Indian Soldiers. Finally Ms. Jothiga of Third year explained about the diplomatic attack of British the declaration of Robert Gillesley and massacre of Indian Soldiers. At last, Ms.Sofia Asst.Prof gave an end note about the freedom struggle and its importance. After that the students of Auxilium College kept up one minute silent prayer for our Indian Soldiers who died in the Vellore Mutiny. The event came to an end with the patriotic light music, instilling in the students the patriotic feelings. The paintings portraying Vellore Mutiny were displayed in the front of Arts block for the students to view.
