ORIENTATION FOR YRC VOLUNTEERS AT RED CROSS HEADQUATERS

TWO DAYS ORIENTATION FOR YRC VOLUNTEERS AT RED CROSS HEADQUATERS, CHENNAI.

            Youth Red Cross volunteers shift – II participated in two days orientation program at Red Cross Headquarters, Chennai on 05.01.2019 and 06.01.2019.

Day 1:

The program started at 10.00 am with an inaugural ceremony. Prof.A.KadharBasha former Principal of The New College, Chennai and Hon. Advisor Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, gave the inaugural speech and explained about the “Principles of Red Cross” and motivated the students to be volunteers of Red Cross.

            The students visited Daycare hospital, Physiotherapy department and Blood Bank and came to know the functions of Blood bank in detail. Blood screening was done to all the students and staff to identify the blood group and hemoglobin value. There was family counselling session given to the students by the counsellor of IRCS- TNB Ms.Karthiga.

The students also visited Regional Metrological department in the afternoon and understood the concepts of cyclone and disaster. More details about cyclones – how they have been located, how their speed and directions are identified and with that information how people are safeguarded – were explained to the students.

 Day 2:

The Camp started with beach cleaning at 6.00 AM. Then students had a brief demo session on Disaster management, Rescue operations during Disaster, First Aid and Fire and Safety the whole day.

Mr. M.S.M. Nasuraddin, Hon. General Secretary gave the valedictory address, encouraged and distributed the certificates.

            The program came to an end with the National Anthem.
