NSS activities in the month of January 2018


Ms .Keerthana, NSS Volunteer participated in the State RD Parade.

Ms Keerthana, NSS Volunteers who had participated in the pre RD Parade camp at Kerala has been selected to participate in the State Republic Day Parade. She has undergone a 10 days training programme from 17.01.2018 to 25.10.2018, at Chennai.


RRC PO Meet and Adolescent Training Programme for Volunteers     

RRC PO Meet and Adolescent Training Programme for Volunteers  was held at Thiruvalluvar University. Dr. M. Murugan, Vice Chancellor, Thriuvalluvar University, presided over the function, Dr.P. Peruvazuthi, Registrar, Thriuvalluvar University gave his felicitations. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Thriumal Babu, Dean, Government Hospital, Adukumbarai- Vellore. Dr. Siva Chandra Bose, RRC Programme Coordinator, proposed the welcome addressed. Dr. Amutha, NSS   Programme Officer   attended the RRC PO Meet and Student Volunteers Ms.Aruna Kumari, II English-B and Ms.Ilaya Kanmani, II English-C participated in the Adolescent Training Programme.


Silver Jubilee celebrations of the National Commission for Women

The NSS Unit of Auxilium College has commemorated the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the National Commission for Women. To mark the celebrations awareness campaign, input session, rally and poster presentation were organized. 500 students participated in the programme. Mrs. Louie Sharmila, Social Activist and Advocate, Chennai High Court gave a resource talk on legal awareness and women empowerment. She has enlightened the students about the National Commission for women, Constitutional laws and legal rights protecting women. She also interacted with the students, answered their questions and clarified their doubts related to legal issues. Dr. Amutha, NSS Programme Officer, Auxilium College delivered the welcome address and introduced the chief guest. Ms. Gayatri and Dr. Uma Chandra Meera, NSS Programme Officers, Auxilium College was present. Ms. Sournamugi, Student Leader had proposed the vote the thanks.  An awareness rally to propagate the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the National Commission for Women was inaugurated by Dr. (Sr.) Mary Josephine Rani, Principal, Auxilium College. Students have walked a couple of miles holding the placards, shouted slogans on women rights and empowerment.


Awareness Programme on Red Moon and Solar Eclipse/ Telescope Watching

Red Moon and Solar Eclipse, a rare event happened since 150 years to be occurred on 31.01.2018. An awareness and orientation programme on that event was organized in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Science Forum. Dr. Amutha, NSS Programmen Officer, Auxilium College, proposed the welcome address. Dr. Saravanan, Assistant Professor (Commerce), Dr. Ambedkar Government Arts College, Chennai, Dr. Thenmozhichelvi, Vice President, TNSF, gave a power point presentation on the Moon and Eclipse. R. Velmurugan, Join Secretary, TNSF and Senthamizh selvan, State treasurer, TNSF were present. Mr. Jayamurugan, TNSF, has arranged three telescopes for the students to watch the moon. It was a mind blowing experience for the student to sight the moon much closer.


Girl Children Day

An awareness campaign on Girl Children Day was organized in collaboration with Hope House at Katpadi Railway Station


National Voters Day

National Voters Day celebration was organized in collaboration with the district administration.  A rally was organized to mark the National Voters Day. Dr.(Sr.). Mary Josephine Rani, Priniciapl Auxilium College, inaugurated the rally.  voters day pledge along with the, Mr.Baskar, Thasildar, Katpadi Division, Mr.Vijaya Kumar, Election Officer, Mr.Udaya Kumar, Revenue Inspector,  Mr. Arun, VAO Kangeyanellur and  Mr. Gunarajan, VAO Katpadi participated in the rally. Auxilum College, Nodal  Officers, Mrs. Gayathri and Mrs.Valentine Usha, Dr. Amutha, NSS Programmen Officer and Student Ambassador, Ms.Sournamugi were present. National Voters Day pledge was taken.


Ms. M. Keerthana NSS Volunteer who took part in the state RD parade was appreciated by Dr. Murugan, the Vice chancellor, Dr. Peruvazuthi, the Registrar and Dr. M. Senthil Kumar, NSS Coordinator, Thiruvalluvar University.  Dr. Amutha, NSS Programme Officer, Auxilium college accompanied the student.


National Leprosy Eradication Day

Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary was also remembered as National Leprosy Eradication Day. To mark the day NSS volunteers had taken pledge on Leprosy awareness and Eradication.
