NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “DESIGN CHALLENGES IN MACHINE INTELLIGENCE”
The Department of B.C.A. Shift I organized a National level Conference on “DESIGN CHALLENGES IN MACHINE INTELLIGENCE” on 1st September 2018.
The chief guest for the inauguration was Dr. Anisha M. Lal, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The programme started with a prayer service, followed by lighting of Kuthuvizhaku by the chief guest Dr.(Ms.) Anisha. M. Lal,, Principal Dr.(Sr.) Regina Mary R. and the Heads of the departments of B.C.A. Shift I, B.C.A. Shift II and B.Sc.(CS).
The keynote address was delivered by the Principal to the participants on the Challenges in Machine Intelligence and the importance of updating ourselves with the latest innovations.. Dr.(Ms.) Anisha. M. Lal gave the inaugural talk on Machine Intelligence. Her talk was related to the challenges in Machine Intelligence. She said that although scientists, engineers, and business mavens agree we might have finally entered the golden age of artificial intelligence when planning a machine learning project we have to be ready to face much more obstacles than we think. Deep learning algorithms like AlphaGo are breaking one frontier after another, proving that machines can already be able to play complex games “thinking out” their moves. Automation has more applications than ever before: from email classification, music, and video suggestions, through image recognition, predictive maintenance in factories, to automatic disease detection, driverless cars, and independent humanoid robots.
The chief speaker of the first session was Mr. Makesh Gopalakrishnan, Founder @ Crayon’d, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His talk was on Man Vs Machine and the evolution in Artificial intelligence. He discussed on how design thinking is changing the world. According to him deep learning is the evolution of machine learning. He concluded that IoT will be the future of the world.
The chief speaker of the Second session was Ra. K. Saravanaguru, Assistant Dean, Academics, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, VIT University,Vellore Campus, Tamilnadu. He elaborated the concepts of building an intelligent system. How to model data, make prediction, interpret data, reasoning techniques, prototyping etc., were the topics discussed by him. He concluded that the major drawback of machine is that it always depends on human beings to execute commands.
Session 3 was paper presentation, chaired by Mrs. Sowmya Satyamurty, Sr. Software Engineer , (Automation and Testing), ValueLabs Technologies, Hyderabad, Telangana and Mr. A.Selvaraj Jeyakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Tamilnadu. Papers were presented by research scholars, Faculty and students from various institutions. The domain of the presented papers were Social media, Cyber Security, Green Computing, Digital Image Processing, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things(IoT), , Sentiment Analysis on Twitter etc.,
The chief speaker of the Fourth session was Dr. G. Sekar, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Computer Science, Dr. Ambedkar Govt. Arts College, Vyasarpadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His talk was on Cloud Computing. He discussed the features of cloud computing like cloud components, various types of clouds, services provided by cloud, Virtualization, Hypervisor etc.
The Valediction session started with a prayer service. Dr.(Sr.) Regina Mary R., Principal, Dr. G. Sekar, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Computer Science, Dr. Ambedkar Govt. Arts College, Vyasarpadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Mr. A.Selvaraj Jeyakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Tamilnadu graced the occasion along with the Heads of the departments of BCA Shift I, BCA Shift II and B.Sc.(CS).
The proceedings of the Conference was released by Dr. (Sr.) Regina Mary R., Principal and was received by the chief guest.
The institutions that participated in the conference are:
- Periyar University, Salem.
- Bharathiyar University, Coumbatore.
