The Department of History and Kanali Women Cell organized an International Women’s Day Celebration in collaboration with Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Vellore Branch on 26th February, 2020. The events started with prayer songs at 2 pm. Mrs. Hamsa, Correspondent of APJ Abdul Kalam Matriculation School, Vellore presided the programme. The Programme organizing secretary, Rev.Sr.Sumathy.M, Vice Principal of Shift I, gave a key note address on the significance and importance of Women’s Day celebration.
The events namely Quiz, Speech, Singing, Poem writing and Poster presentation was conducted for the students’ community. Dr. Preetha, Assistant Professor of Tamil Department, Auxilium College, Shift II was presided the debate on “Whether all the rights of women are respected or denied”?, fourteen students are actively participated in debate event, and made an arguments on women rights, violence against women, Gender disparity in home, working environment and public places.
Regarding Poster presentation and Poem writing, Dr. Papitha and Dr. Shantha Kumari, Assistant Professor of Tamil Department, Shift- I served as the Judge for final scrutizining. Students from Second History and Final year secured first, second and third place respectively. Many social issues against women are displayed in the poster presentation.
At last, Mr. Syed Junaid, Marketing manager of Malabar Gold and Diamonds, conducted a game show for students’ refreshment along with making awareness on miscommunication. Volunteers from third years energetically participated in the game show.
Miss. Meenakshi, Miss. Ashrutha and Miss. Preethi took a charge for hosting in entire programme.
The women’s day celebration ended with National Anthem in successful manner.
